Breakthrough Radiation Oncology

CollimateHealth develops a clinically scalable microbeam radiation technology designed to reshape the way cancer is treated. While conventional radiation oncology typically relies on broad and lower-dose beams that cause significant side effects, microbeam radiation delivers an array of extremely narrow, micrometer-scale beams at substantially higher dose.

Tumors exposed to microbeam radiation undergo a form of highly disruptive cell death that increases antigen presentation, which helps to activate an immune response against cancer cells beyond the primary irradiated tumour. In addition, the temporary channels created by microbeam irradiation improve the delivery of therapeutics into tumour tissue, creating synergies with both chemotherapy and immunotherapy

About us

CollimateHealth is the result of outstanding science developed by exceptional researchers. The company was launched as a venture-building project of VP Venture Partners and co-founded by Prof. Dr. Stefan Bartzsch (Chief Scientific Officer), Dr. Johanna Winter (Chief Technology Officer), and Dr. Hans Maria Heÿn (Chief Executive Officer).

The technical team, shown in the image above, has spent nearly a decade developing the company’s core microbeam technology. CollimateHealth has been supported by UnternehmerTUM, TUM Venture Lab Healthcare, Bio-M, and Medical Valley, and has received multiple innovation recognitions.

The underlying technology has been advanced in collaboration with leading academic and clinical institutions, including the Technical University of Munich (TUM), TUM University Hospital Rechts der Isar, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Helmholtz Institute Mainz, Forschungszentrum Jülich, the Institute of Cancer Research, and The Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
